I lived in Florence, Alabama for 38 years. There, like most other places, people were in a hurry. Hurry to take the kids to school, to drive to work, to shop early at Wal-Mart - you name it.
Anyway, I was going down Chisholm Road into Florence, Alabama when I noticed a line of cars turning unto the side of the road and stopping. This was that case for both the inbound lanes. I did the same.
Why this highway surprise?
Well, it seems that a box turtle decided to cross the road. And both lines of cars stopped to let the turtle cross.
I imagine some people were late at work. I was. But I had the dandiest excuse for tardiness.
